A first step into a larger world

I've posted my first "real" column at http://www.k8space.com. I didn't e-mail it to the Word of the Day list, which I think would be inappropriate.

What do you all think?

And, please tell me if it's horrifyingly bad, won't you?

I'm hardly an expert but I enjoyed reading it. It seemed like a very nicely written piece.

Thank you! That is helpful...

During my brief stint in CO, I was highly amused by the cultural phenomenon of having 2 major papers, and by the assumptions people made about "what kind of people" read each one. Now, other than a small tinge of nostalgia, I have no feelings on the subject.

But I really enjoyed your article. Insightful. Well-written. Just a bit of humor. It reminded me of you, and that made me happy.

I know the phenomena you're describing, which I was oblivious about until probably a few years ago. Someone asked me why I'd read the "conservative" paper, and I was completely confused.

Anyway, thank you for reading, and your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I think it's really a great column. I enjoyed it very much :)

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I'm hoping maybe to get another posted tonight or tomorrow...

I remember the days when the Rocky was the morning paper and the Denver Post was an evening paper. I also remember when used to actually read a paper. I think that I stopped when I started leaving for work earlier than the paper would arrive. I kinda miss it, and I really miss reading the Sunday paper, but I won't read the Post as a matter of (possibly silly and probably misguided) principle, so the merger really put me off the print paper in general. (That and they can't seem to not deliver it when I ask them.) I'd get the Sunday NYT in print if it weren't so bloody expensive....

Also: nice column Kate. It really triggered the nostalgia, and there was a good mix of humor.

And, thanks. Good to hear.

Wow. I don't know if I ever know that they were divided as "morning" and "afternoon."

I think what I sorta miss is a paper being read in the morning. and quiet time to enjoy paper and breakfast. I hate having the TV on in the morning, but, my sister always turns it on.

Hide the remote or unplug the tv. She won't have time to hunt for the remote or to dig to re-plug it in and you can have a quiet morning

I doubt that it's worth it. She uses the TV to wake up, and also, she's up before me anyway.
