Running to stay in place...

So, Slayerfest starts *tomorrow* and, I'm so behind. I'm going to have the dinner outside so that we can free up inside tables for games. If the people who arrive on Friday night are not interested in games, we may just plunge ahead to the watching of the show.

The new job is going fairly well. The people are very nice, the work's, well, not terrible exciting. It's not difficult. Most of the time, I feel mostly like an overglorified secretary. But, maybe that's because I've not yet seen all the things I'm supposed to be doing. Afterall, it's only been a week, right?

Anyway. So, between work and Slayerfest, I'm not doing a whole lot else. Sorry I've been, sorta, incommunicado.

We were thinking of attending the Friday night activities, if it's not too late to say so. It's at your place, right? The G&C reference made me think of Common Grounds, but then dinner makes no sense in that case.... So I'm assuming your place. Dinner is not expected since we decided so late.

Yes, and please plan on dinner. See, I long ago disavowed myself from the notion that an RSVP count would be remotely accurate. Or that any RSVP'ing would actually occur. Mostly, now, I keep that bit in there because, um, it makes me feel better when someone says yes, even if it's just one person. So, I usually just plan to make enough to feed everyone I've invited minus the definite "Nos." The nice thing, all the food is fine reheated (or, even cold for that matter), so, if it doesn't get eaten, it gets snacked on all weekend. By Sunday, it's usually pretty much gone, and then, I've learned that Monday is "stake your own dinner," which means that we only cook what's actually needed, based on who's there. I've learned the metaphysics of hosting the Familee.

Hope Slayerfest is good fun and glad that your job seems to be going well even if it isn't 'stretching' you so much :)
