Well, second weekend is very important...

So, Serenity didn't do as well as we might have hoped. The most distressing part was that it made more money on Friday than Saturday, which isn't normal. It wasn't a disaster, but, it means the second weekend is much more important. I'm glad to be among the few, the happy few...

Yup. I didn't ask anyone to go see it in this post. I am done with that. This was just an informational post.

I'd like to know what their numbers look like if you factor in the bajillion screenings from over the summer.

They were supposed to be factored in. About 250k is what I'd heard.

Couple of reasons:

1. The quality of this film. This film is exceptionally well-written, well acted, and put together. I want more films like this, so Hollywood needs to know I'm willing to pay for quality. I don't need special effects, I want stories that mean something, where it's about relationships, the choices that people make, and the consequences of those actions.

2. I want Joss Whedon to be seen as a director who can not only finish a film on time and under/on budget, but can bring in audiences. This means future success for him, which translates to more great movies, whether they're Firefly or not. While his next 2 projects are not in jeopardy, Hollywood is notoriously fickle.

3. I'm torn on the sequal notion, for several reasons, but, if it means that I get to see more quality stuff, than woo-hoo.
