In (I think) 6th grade, my friend and I found this giant snapping turtle at the creek near my house and I carried it all the way to the bus stop (5 or 6 blocks) and it didn't move, but it was at least a square foot in size. Once I got it to the bus stop and put it down, then it got cranky. Scared the crap out of everyone. I had no clue what kind of turtle it was until later. It was a long time ago and it seemed enormous at the time. I basicaly looked like this coming to the busstop:
