Has it really been a week?

Yup. It has.
Crap.
The show has an accompanist. She's very good. Sets are getting close to being done. In fact, here's some ticket info
I've now seen Ray. Jamie Foxx is incredible. One Oscar nominated movie down, 4 to go. I'm admitting, too, that I've not written anything about it, and, while I'm optimistic, it might be next week before I get anything done.
The Cthulu hatchling was seen for the first time by the cast last night. The actress who must sing to it at the end, well, she hadn't seen it until the moment when it got dragged out. She was horified, and then couldn't stop laughing. Which started everyone else laughing. Admittedly, due to, um, some problems, it's scarier/uglier looking than even it should be. Not one of the cast knew who Cthulu was.
And, I have to re-make a few props.
There are also a few developments on the job-ish front....
I went back for a second interview at Kaiser. It was fine, but, I don't think the offer, should I get an offer, will be enough for me to be able to take the job. It's about a 3% drop in salary, at the top end of the posted range. And, this week, I've gotten very little done on my regular job. The worst part? I'm finding it very difficult to care.
My boss will be out of here in a week. I've no idea who will be my boss after that. I'm getting pretty afraid that if I take any time off from here, I won't want to return at all. If I wasn't so afraid that I'd not be able to find a job, I'd just quit.
On the Stage Manager front, everyone here thinks I'm really good at this. In fact, the choreographer wanted to be able to hire me for her next show. She thinks I'm great. She was impressed that I kept Edith aware of some of the safety concerns with the set pieces, and have kept everyone largely sane. She also thought my props were great. which is really nice, since she's also the woman whose husband does movie props for a living. My props, well, largely done on the way-way cheap, so, they often look a tad on the crude side to me. Like the gigantic magnifying glass I made for $1.50. And the paper mache'd egg. And the franken-'thulu. But, they work, and the director's pleased, so, I've done my job, I guess. Still have a few to get finished, but, I'll get it done.
The lighting designer also told me I'm a really good stage manager today. So, apparently, it's not just the producer who thinks I'm doing a great job.
I am also feeling a bit guilty since I wasn't able to be at Andrew's birthday party. And, I've not finished his present yet. I was pleased with myself for coming up with something I know he'll enjoy, and is pretty cool, IMHO, but, I'm sad I've not been able to complete it. Soon.
And thanks to Alice and all ya'll for your "odes (and haikus) to Kate." I really appreciated each one, and am likely the luckiest Kate in the whole world. Eggs.
The people demand. . .

Date: 2005-02-25 04:26 pm (UTC)Cthulhu (see, I'm remembering, now, the second "h") is a creation of H.P. Lovecraft. The idea being that Cthulhu is one of those things that has been the root of all the nightmares of human-kind, and supposedly figures into the racial memory of all humans.
Cthulhu's generally got the look of an octopus, with a rubbery skin, lots of tentacles, and huge wings.
