Slayerfest Review

For those at points far away, and those that are interested, here's a run down of the events of Slayerfest. It'd be cool to hear others' thoughts about the weekend in general, as I'm contemplating potential changes for next year.

So, Friday the special Slayerfest version of G&C  was good, I think. Food and house were ready for guests at 7:00 thanks to my heros Jen (who vaccuumed), and [livejournal.com profile] byree  and [livejournal.com profile] saintpookie. We had some difficulty finding space for games, sorta, and everyone basically played the Trivia game. I completed 4 decks of Buffy Mythos [livejournal.com profile] dragonweaver. We'll want to actually fix the decks and play with them to get a better sense of them. All in all, successful, but, maybe re-think the furniture/warm house challenges.

on Saturday, we had the surprise addition of [livejournal.com profile] psyclonic and Ted, who were cursing the non-chasable weather. It was good to see them both.

Sunday, we got up to 8 folks near the second half ot the Spike episodes. Zanon has now been "canon-ized" as the littlest Slayer even though he's a boy. Maybe he's a rogue demon hunter. (what's a rogue demon again?)

On Monday, pretty much in time for dinner, there were friends of mine of work, and [livejournal.com profile] byree , for the sing-along. The rain thwarted the "stake your own dinner and grill it" notion, so we punted, and had differently cooked food.

While there were people there throughout the weekend, unlike last year, where Monday was completely dead, the main event nights are still a bit down, attendance-wise. Since we elminated Friday night as a viewing night, there were fewer players in the trivia game, so I gave out fewer of the big prizes. Which isn't *bad* (I'll just save them for next year,) but, I'm wondering if it's worth keeping the weekend-long trivia game. I'm also wondering if moving the event to another weekend would be better for people, or whether the format needs to completely change. Maybe it needs to be less watching, more interactive discussion type activities? Or, maybe we should run a marathon of the top 30 viewer picked episodes, to avoid people having to sit through a hated episode just cause it's up next? My early thought is that we do a "good parts" marathon of Buffy/Angel, in 30ish episodes. (I'm picking 30, as only about 26 episodes were watched this weekend, which seems to be about the normal Slayerfest average.) Any thoughts?
