I've been entertaining the thought of making a collection of just the Word of the Day Oscar stories, likely just of the last decade. I'm not planning on  including the ones I have from 1997,  and since I didn't actually do more than draft a few stories for 2005-2008, and no one has seen them, the collection would be part new and part old content.

I would sell them at a very reasonable rate at Lulu, or some place like that, in either a bound book or an electronic download.

What do you all think about that?

I guess the thought I'd have is the thought I have when we look at compilations at my work: where's the buying decision? Who's your customer for a product like that and are there enough of them willing to pay what it would take to justify your time and effort in compiling it? If the answer's yes, then it's worth your time. If you don't know or the answer's no, then you should at least pause. Unless you're able or willing to do it without breaking even.

That's it, exactly. If the people who would buy it are my readers, based on the traffic, I really don't think I have enough readers to justify it, because I would conservatively guess that maybe one percent of audience would but it, which would be like, my mom. I'm not even sure how long it would take to put together, and make it look pretty at this point. It'd be a relatively easy compilation, content-wise, but, making it look pretty-wise, it'd take a decent amount of doing.

And I suspect, it's kinda enough of a weird-o think that non-readers wouldn't be interested.

I had some people ask me about it, and I wanted to see if demand might be bigger than I currently suspect...

I would recommend Lulu, they seem to do fine with text heavy pieces (they are not recommended for photography or subtle art pieces though) and they'll allow you to sell it in physical and electronic formats. Also what [livejournal.com profile] srotu27 said.

Lulu worked well for our cookbook, it's true.
